KDF Berkey Shower Filter

The KDF Berkey Shower Filter is used with your shower head to remove chlorine and typically lasts 10,000 gallons or one year whichever comes first. The berkey shower filter contains KDF 55 granules and is most effective at removing or reducing chlorine, hydrogen sulfide, microorganisms, scale and water-soluble heavy metals such as lead, mercury, and iron. Additionally, it kills bacteria and inhibits the growth of bacteria, algae, and fungi. As an result, there is a reduction of lime scale, mold, and fungi in your shower. KDF process media are completely safe and toxic free with no adverse side effects. It is effective for removing contaminations in hot and cold water.

Shower water can contain chlorine in a liquid or gas form. With higher water temperatures in a enclosed shower stall, free-chlorine transforms from a liquid to a gas state and these vaapors can easily be inhaled. The United States regulates all showerhead flow at 2.5 gallons per minute. The KDF Shower Filter has been designed with this flow rate along with temperature and volume to insure your safety.

Our Dual Media KDF Berkey Shower Filter works similarly to a catalytic converter in an automobile. In our shower filtration, free-chlorine is converted into a harmless chloride. The scientific name for this chemical reaction is known as "Reduction-Oxidation". Commonly referred to as Redo, the reactions can be chemically complex. Basically, Redox reaction electrons are transferred between molecules, creating new elements. As an example, when free-chlorine comes in contact with the filtration media, it is changed into a benign, water-soluble chloride. This reaction changes free-chlorine to a larger chloride element, too large to evaporate or be absorbed by the skin. It is then carried harmlessly through the water supply. Many institutions rely on Redox solution including hospitals, restaurants, municipal water treatment facilities. With this process, contaminations are safely reduced or removed including free chlorine, iron, iron oxides, heavy metals, hydrogen sulfide and bacteria from their water.

The KDF process media is at the heart of the berkey shower filter. This shower filter uses high-purity copper-zinc formulations to reduce heavy metals, hydrogen sulfide, microorganisms, and scale. Water filtered through redox media will controls microorganism growth, reduce bacteria and other microorganisms by electron transport, causing cellular damage. This KDF process media also kill bacteria by direct electrochemical contact, by the flash formation hydroxyl radicals and hydrogen peroxide, again  interfering with a microorganism's ability to function. The copper-zinc redox media removes 99% of free chlorine and dissolved chlorine gas to water-soluble chloride ions.

98% of water-soluble cations (positively-charged ions) are removed with the shower filter including lead, mercury, chromium, copper, nickel, and other dissolved metals. Soluble lead cations are reduced to insoluble lead atoms by electroplating onto the surface of the media. All KDF media are guaranteed for product purity, and a certified analytical sheet accompanies each manufacturing run. In addition, KDF media meets EPA and Food and Drug Administration standards for maximum limits of zinc and copper in potable water. The shower filter:

    The manufacturer, New Millennium Concepts, Ltd., warrants this product to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 6 months from date of purchase.  New Millennium Concepts, Ltd. will replace or repair any product that it deems is not properly functioning during the stated warranty period.
