These cleanable upper chamber Super Sterasyl ceramic filters have the capacity ot remove parasites, floating solids, cysts and pathogenic bacteria and reduce pesticides, organic chemicals, organic solvents,herbicides, trihalomethanes, Semivolatile Organic Comppounds (SOCs) Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and foul tastes and odors.

The latest ceramic techniques used to manufacturer these filters create a hollow porous ceramic that is fired at a temperature in excess of 1000C. They are designed to foster water flow passing from the outside to the inside of the element. These elements have a unique domed ceiling assuring no leakage into in inner camber, which often happens with capped filters.

The Ceramic Filters are a controlled pore structure providing efficient sub-micron filtration, highly effective with hard shelled parasites and less harmful, but equally unpleasant debris, such as rust and dirt. The core of the filter is filled with granular activated carbon for reducing chlorine, organic chemicals while improving the color, taste, and odor of the source water. The filter works best when in areas where temperatures are between 40 – 100 F for proper filtration.

The Sterasyl ceramic filters contain pure silver, a material that significantly inhibits bacteriological mitosis grow. The result is minimized bacterial growth within this ceramic element (which is possible with the other ceramic filter elements). This limited amount is well below international standards and insures output water levels of silver are very safe. Sterasyl ceramic filters do not require sterilization after cleaning. They can:

• Remove Pathogenic Bacteria - Cholera, Typhoid, Salmonella, Serratia, E.Coli, Fecal Coliform > 99.99% removal.

• Remove Cysts (>99.999%) - Cryptosporidium Parvum and Giardia Lamblia - 100% removal (based on tests by Arizona State University).

• Reduce Organic Chemicals - Pesticides, herbicides, organic solvents, SOCs, VOCs, trihalomethanes.

• Reduce Chlorine > 90%.

• Reduce Turbidity, Sediment and Particulate - @ 0.9 micron > 99.99%, @ 0.5 – 0.8 micron > 99.9%, @ 0.2 – 0.3 micron > 98% (based on tests by Spectrum Laboratories, Minneapolis, MN).

Bacterial Mitosis and "Grow-Through"

Mitosis is the name used which refers to the method of bacterial cell division. Division is characterized by desolving the chromatin cell nucleus into a threadlike form. This thread form then condenses into chromosomes that longitudinally separate into two parts; one part of the original chromosome is retained in each of the two new daughter cells. When environmental conditions are right, the division cell growth with sufficient nutrients, "threadlike forms" can penetrate ordinary ceramic structure and create bacterial cells on the inside of ceramic elements. The Sterasyl grade ceramic filters incorporate pure silver into the porous ceramic shell, which inhibits mitosis or "grow-through".

Note: Ceramic filters are upper chamber elements. They do not work simultaneously with upper chamber Black Berkey purifying elements. Only one technology is designed to operate in the upper chamber at a time.

The manufacturer, New Millennium Concepts, Ltd., warrants this product to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 6 months from date of purchase. New Millennium Concepts, Ltd. will replace or repair any product that it deems is not properly functioning during the stated warranty period.
